Representatives from 57 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) gathered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the first day of the Islamic Solidarity Games Chefs de Mission Seminar.
The meeting provided an opportunity for representatives of the ISSA and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) to present detailed updates on preparations for the Islamic Solidarity Games and operational plans, before visiting the Athletes’ Village and venues for camel racing and equestrian.
The LOC then outlined NOC services which will be available in the build-up to and during the Islamic Solidarity Games, the latest updates on the sports program, qualification pathways and the venues plan, and an overview of facilities at the Athletes’ Village. The processes for accreditation and sport entries were explained to the NOCs, and the presentations concluded with an update on medical services and the anti-doping program.
Presentations were conducted in an interactive manner, with opportunities for NOCs to have their questions answered on specific topics throughout. The LOC also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and working closely with the 57 NOCs to support their preparations for the Islamic Solidarity Games.
Participants at the Chefs de Mission Seminar were then given a tour of the Athletes’ Village and the impressive training facilities catering for all sports on the Islamic Solidarity Games program.
They then visited the historic Al Janadriyah track which will host camel racing during Riyadh 2025, and the renowned Jump Saudi equestrian venue.
The Chefs de Mission Seminar will continue tomorrow (2 June), featuring tours of the venues at Boulevard, Malaz and Green Hall. Further updates will also be presented to delegates on accommodation, transport and technical readiness.
The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in Riyadh from 7-21 November, with the event returning to Saudi Arabia 20 years on from when it hosted the inaugural edition in 2005.
It will bring together athletes from the ISSA’s 57 member countries, competing in 24 sports.
